Let’s Grow Microgreens

Thursdays, January 13 & 27 @ 4:00 p.m.
This two part program is offered by Ashley Brooks at the NC Cooperative Extension Office.  Youth will learn how to plant their own microgreens, going from planting to harvesting.  Ages 8 and up can register by calling 252-638-6363.

Presentation Skills!
Thursday, February 10

Presentation skills are SUPER important and 4-H has a Presentation program that helps youth ages 5-18 develop and give presentations! This competition learning experience starts at the county level and continues up to the State level for ages 8 and up and even to the National level in some categories.  This year we will have an interest meeting where youth and parents can learn more about what's involved and can decide on which topic they wish to present on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 4:00 PM at the Cove City Library.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Digital Photography Scavenger Hunt

Want to learn the basics of digital photography & have a blast learning it?  Join us for a fun two-part series as we learn the basics of digital photography and dive into our creativity.  This program is for young adults (8th grade and above) and adults.  Please bring a digital camera or smart phone if able.  Final projects will be showcased in the library as a gift to the community!

Insect Pests and (Non-Pests) of the Lawn and Landscape

The vast majority of insect species found in lawns are not pests, and do not require management.  Routine preventative insecticide applications; or applications made before a problem has been diagnosed, pose great risk to beneficial insects that are a part of nature's balance.  This presentation will explore examples of harmless and beneficial turf insects, as well as a few that are capable of causing lawn damage if not managed.   Join NC Cooperative Extension Agent, Thomas Glasgow for an informative morning.
