This month Claire takes us through basic knot tying to create a small macrame hanging. With this one knot you can make lots of designs. If you want to go further with this skill, the library has several books to help you out.

Try an easy Valentine’s Day origami heart! This heart can hold a secret message or a small gift. Use any paper you have at home and download the instructions or come by the library for a kit.

Quilling, or paper filigree, is an old paper craft, thought to have originated in Ancient Egypt. It has enjoyed cycles of popularity ever since. All you need is paper strips, something round to wrap the strips like a pencil, chopstick, or toothpick, and glue. Pick up a take out craft kit from the library and watch the video to get started. Once you have the basic rolls down, you can make any shape. Check out the library’s beautiful books on quilling for more ideas!
