It's easy to get a library card!

With a Craven-Pamlico Regional Library Card, free books, audiobooks, online resources and more are only a click away.

Visit any of our CPRL branches in Cove City, Havelock, New Bern, Pamlico County or Vanceboro, or come by any Bookmobile community stop to activate your library card. 

All you need is a photo ID and proof of residency in Craven or Pamlico County.
(Proof of residency can be a physical or digital document, which can include recent utilities statements, lease agreements, car insurance cards, school report cards, etc.) Click here for a list of library branch locations.

  • Children under 18 must accompany the parent or guardian who will be responsible for the account to pick up their card.
  • Active duty military stationed in Craven or Pamlico County and their dependents may receive a library card at no charge with a copy of current orders.
  • Non-residents who work in education, government or public service agencies may bring proof of employment to receive a library card at no charge.
  • Non-residents who apply for a library card will have an annual fee assessed to your card. Please follow this link for information about the non-resident card and associated fees.

Resident library cards are active for three years. Library card renewals must be done in-person at any CPRL library branch.

Many K-12 students also have access to digital resources with Virtual Student Cards!
