Description

This popular book club, sponsored by the North Carolina Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities, offers inspirational fiction and nonfiction books with a North Carolina theme. The program’s theme, Journeys through North Carolina, highlights the different ways of experiencing North Carolina: a place of freedom, local customs and foods, and a homeland for indigenous peoples. This year’s program will include a brief book discussion of each title and a presentation showing the historical background. The entire program will meet for three sessions, the 3rd Wednesday of each month, from March through May 2025. Participants will receive North Carolina Humanities-themed gifts when registering. To register, visit in person at the Adult Services Reference Desk or you may call 252-638-7807 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. April’s title is Hungry Roots: How Food Communicates Appalachia’s Search for Resilience by Ashli Quesinberry Stokes and Wendy Atkins-Sayre. NBCCPL Conference Room.
