Rules and Details

• Contest runs Monday, September 23 through Saturday, October 12, 2024. Submit stories in person at New Bern-Craven County Public Library OR online. Entry form must accompany story.
• Stories are limited to TWO complete sentences of any length.
• Content must follow the CPRL Patron Conduct Policy.
• No offensive, violent, or overly explicit content will be allowed.
• Stories will be scanned for AI.
• Winning entries will be posted for a Halloween display at our temporary location and shown on our social media pages. 

Local area authors will judge on blind entries based on creativity, original content, imaginative twists, and “fear factor”/ spookiness! There will be four age divisions:
Middle School; High School; 18-45 years old; 46 years+
